GLENAVY SPORTS

GOOD PROGRAMME FOR SATURDAY’S EVENT-

For some reason or other South Canterbury and North Otago have always been noted for their country sports meetings and in even the smallest centres there is to be found an Athletic Society or Sports Club. Glenavy is no exception to the rule, and the meeting next Saturday, December 13th, gives every indication that it will beat all the previous efforts of the Glenavy people in this direction. Good entries have been received including many of the crack cyclists and runners The programme includes all the usual flat running events such as JOO, 220 and 440 yards, as well as the half mile and mile races. The flat races include a district race of 220yds and a 100yds boys’ race (12 to 16) The gentle sex have not been forgotten, either, and there is a 75yds race for girls under 16, as well as young ladies’ race. Cycle events at? a- feature of this meeting, and the three events set down, viz., mile, 1J miles, and 2 miles, will be sure L provide great excitement.
