'QUALITY’ PERFORMERS

RETURN VISIT. Pwbably no combination >of artists which have toured the Dominion ?nas acquired such a measure of popularity as the “Quality Performers”, who visited Waimate some weeks ago, and are due to give a return performance on Tuesday next, May 30, at the Olympia Theatre, when an entirely new programme will be presented. In addition to the full (company which appeared on the previous occasion, a special engagement has been made with Nina Gor r don, who has been appearing under the Harry Musgrove banner in Australia for some months past. Nina Gordon, who has been touring in various parts of the world, made her first appearance at the Palace Theatre, London, some ten years ago, and during the season she received Royal Command to appear before Her Majesty, Queen Mary, and the Royal family, and became the favourite entertainer at Buckingham Palace. Her mimicry and impersonations of famous stage celebrities includes Madam Melba, Connie Ediss, Gladys Moncrief, Harry Lauder, Albert Chevalier, Ella Shields, and many others, and her efforts in this direction have been recognised throughout the world as superb, and her recent performances at Dunedin, where she made her initial appearance in tli e Dominion, where eugolised as excellent, especially when comparisons could be made to above named artists who have recently appeared on the same stage. Elements in giving the “Q. P.” programme are its characteristic brightness, and the excellent stage dressing and mounting, and the desirable quality in the management which keeps the events moving, so that there i s no relaxation into anything approaching dullness from beginning to end. The “Q. P.s” produce an entertainment which makes a wide and irrestible appeal, and should ensure another appeal, and should ensure another plans are now open at Thomas’s, where seats may be reserved without charge. Patrons are advised to book seats, and avoid disappointment. At Oamaru recently—at the “Q. P.” entertainment—the whole of the seating capacity of the theatre was booked several days previous to the company’s visit.
