BRUSSELS, May 10. King George and Queen Mary had a remarkable welcome by Burgomaster Max at the Hotel de Ville. For their Majesties’ entertainment, singers and dancers, with ancient instruments, reproduced a mediaeval masque in the famous Gothic Hall.
OTTAWA, May 9.
The House of Commons debate on the exclusion of Orientals from Canada resulted in an amendment resolution to provide for effective restriction instead of exclusion.
The Premier (Mr W. L. Meckenzie King) said the Government was negotiating with China with a view to remedying conditions by a system of passports. The amendment was adopted.
