A Bolshevik official made the following statement: “Though the Russo-German agreement caused a sensation, and would produce the Allied charge that we failed to keep our pledges to confine ourselves to the Conference agenda, it should be pointed out that the negotiations for the agreement will set aside the Brest Litovsk Treaty, and please both countries on the basis of complete equality, enabling common co-operative efforts towards the highest economic development of both countries.”
MISCONCEPTION. Genoa, April 17. In reference to the raw materilas resolution, misconception arose through the Italian Economic Committee holding a meeting in the Palazzo, Reale. It was this Committee which adopted the resolution cabled, not the Conference sub-committee, but as Signors Baldese and Cabrini, who promoted the resolution in vJ ta l ian Committee - are members ot the Conference Economic Committee, Italy’s action over raw materials requires watching. Sir --- Cook took immediate action to investigate matters and brought the proposals to the notice of Signor Baldese’s colleaues
SENSATION CAUSED. Genoa, April 17. The Germans have concluded the economic agreement with Russia. It provides for de jure recognition of the Soviet, the restoration of diplomatic relations, and reciprocal favoured nation treatment. This caused a sensation at the Conference.
