HEAVY CANNON CARRIED ON A RAFT. Australian and N.Z, Cabin Assn. WASHINGTON, yesterday. An official despatch from Rome describes a battle in which British monitors, Italian naval forces, aircraft and land forces, were, jointly attacking Hermada. The Italians are using a seciet naval device, described as only the hugest “ float ” mounting guns of the largest calibre yet known. It uses a new type of shells, and these are now being dropped in the city of Trieste. Austrian warships raised steam, but feared to come out and face the new monster.
