A word of warning and .advice to a section of the lads who attend the Waimate Band of Hope, entertainments is called for. Last evening, as the free concert proceeded, it was impossibiei to. hear the, performers’ dialogues owing to the noise created by a number of illmannered lads in the back selats of the hall. There arel certain times when noise can be tolerated at public entertainments, such as when the cur-tain-rising is overdue., and possibly when a ‘‘very rythmic piece! is being rattled qn the piano las a m e rei fillup. Pqf horse-play and talking during the performance of children's piqqes is a sure Sign of a lack .of good breeding. Such a lack in lads does- not, . however, necessarily, argue a want of susceptibility. to teaching, and the managers of tiho Band- of Hop© should se© that the rear of the ball is adequately policed.
