WAIMATE COUNTY. UiGHT TRAFFIC BRIDGES BY-LAW. "VTOTICE is hereby given that at i. > a Special meeting of the Waimate County Council, held on Wednesday, the Twenty-Seventh Day of May, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, the following resolution was passed and will be submitted for confirmation at the ordinary meeting of the Council, to be held on WEDNESDAY, the TwentyFourth Day of JUNE, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, at 10 o'clock a.m., at the Council Chambers of the County of Waimate, in Waimate. RESOLUTION. Resolved that the following Bylaw bo made. WAIMATE COUNTY COUNCIL. THE LIGHT TRAFFIC BRIDGES BY-LAW, 191-1. .In exercise of the powers conferred upon it by Part IV of ,the Counties Act, 1908, the Waimate County Council by this special order hereby make the following By-law: In pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in it by the “Counties Act, 1908,” the “Public Works Act, 1908," and the "Motor Regulation! Act, 1908,” and the Acts amending the same respectively and of all other powers and authorities thereunto in that behalf it enabling the Council of the County of Waimate ' doth hereby make and ordain this By-law. (I) The short title of this By-law shall be the Light Traflic Bridges By-law, 191-1. (L’) In the interpretation of this By-law “County” means the Waimate County, “Council” means Council of the Waimate County, “Motor” means a motor within the meaning of the “Motor Regulation Act, 1908.” (8) the Council may from time to time authorise any person to see that this By-law is duly observed and to investigate and report any breach to the Council. (-1) An\ Person committing a. broach of any of the provisions of this By-law shall bo liable to a penalty which shall be in the discretion of the Court indicting the same and shall not in any case exceed Five Founds (£5). (o) This By-law shall apply to all such bridges in tire County under the control or management of (he Council as have been or shall bo provided by the Council for use for light tralfio only, or which shall in the opinion of the Council bo suitable for light traffic only, and the same are hereinafter referred to as “Light Traffic Bridget!.” (d) Tlie Council may from time to time by Pujblic Notice either published in some newspaper circulating in the County, or by notice affixed to any such bridge declare any such bridge to bo a light traffic bridg e and the same shall thereupon and thenceforth be deemed to be and shall bo a light traffic bridge within the meaning of this By-law. (7) No person shall take or cause or permit to be taken any vehicle weighing with its load more than two tons across or over or on any such light , traffic bridge. (8) No person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor across any such light traffic bridge at a speed exceeding ten miles per hour. (9) Any person authorised in that behalf by the Council may stop and detain any vehicle which in Ms opinion infringes this By-law until the weight of such vehicle and the load thereon can be ascertained. (10) The driver of any vehicle shall if so required by any person authorised on that behalf by the Council /give such information as to the load thereof and the weight of the same, or do such acts for the purpose of enabling the same to be ascertained as such authorised person requests. (II) Any person taking or having taken any vehicle across over or on any light traffic bridge shall stop when requested by any person authorised in that behalf by the Council and give all information and do all such acts and things which such authorised person is entitled to demand and any person refusing or failing to do all or any such things aforesaid shall be deemed to have committed an offence.
