Mr H. Ross, of the local railway staff, has-received notice of transfer to Chriutchurch.

Rev. Mr Perry, of Newport, Isle of Wight, who is spending a holiday with his sister, Mrs A. Macpherson, at the Hook, occupied the pulpit of Knox Church, Waimate, on Sunday evening. Mr A. W. H. Smith, booking clerk at the railway station, left on Tuesday for a three weeks holiday. Mr T. Bruiiton, of Christchurch, is relieving him.

Miss Minna Woolstein,who was married at Spring Creek, Blenheim, last week, to Mr Coates, of Lyttelton, son of Rev. Canon Coates, formerly of Waimate, is the only daughter of Rev. Mr Woolsteiu, now of Spring Creek, but formerly schoolmaster at Waituna, Waimate. Mr E. Davison, of the Railway Department, who has been on his honeymoon trip through the South Island whrlst on holiday, returned to Waimate on Saturday and resumed duty on Tuesday. Mr J. Cameron, of Christchurcb, relieved him.

Miss Annie Lindsay, who is leaving Waimate for Oamaru, after being in the service of Cameron and Co. for several years, was presented with a gold watch by the other employees and proprietor of that business. She was also the recipient from Knox Church Choir of a silver photo frame and silver top pin box, while the Senior Girls' Bible Class met Misa Lindsay at a surprise party and gave her a token of goodwill and esieem in the shape of a silver-backed mirror. A large number of railway men, carriers, and others met at the local railway station on Saturday night to wish good-bye to Mr Divers, prior to his departure for Waipawa, after a stay in Waimate of nearly six years. On behalf of the subscribers he was presented by Mr Hendren with a handsome travelling bag, for which the recipient returned thanks. Complimentary speeches were made in refer-; ence to Mr Divers' many good qualities by Messrs Croft, Weir, Saner, Dunn, Milner, Kayno, and Lyons. Mr Divers left by express on Tuesday.
