Waimate Swimming Glob.

THE 1911 SEASON.

The annual general meeting of the Waimate Amateur Swimming Club was held last evening, seventeen members being present. Four new. members were elected.

The annual report showed that the club had a total membership f-jr the laat year of 61, as againßt 66 for the previous year. There had, however, been a decrease in the number of senior members. During the year just ended considerable improvements bad been made to the baths, and interest shown iii swimming had been keen, and the prospects for the coming season were very good. The balance sheet showed that the Club had. started the year with a credit balance of £7 12s and finished with a credit balance of £lO 16s 9d. The donation of £lO received from the now defunct New Club was mainly responsible for tnis increase.

The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: President: Mr F. Akhurst; Vice-Presi-dents: Messrs Bremner, Manchester, Hume, Greig and Fitch; Captain: Mr N. L Thomas; Vice-Captain: Mr S. I. Fitch; Hon. Secretary and Treasurer: Mr J. R. 0. Liockhead; Committee: Messrs J. Cameron,. Metson, Greig, J. Merzies and Wemyss; Auditor: Mr T. A. Greig.

The question of how the donation of £lO received from the New Cfub should be spent was brught before the meeting, and after much discussion it was resolved that it be left to the Committee to decide, witn a recommendation that part of it be spent on a challenge cup, to be swum for under conditions to be decided by the Committee.

A vote of thanks to the Chair concluded the meeting.
