Ladies' Benevoient Society.
-The annual rneetiag of the Ladies' Beu6vclent Society was hold on August Ibfc. Present — Mesdarnes Sti i!i jltno (in the chair), Gibson, W.lson, Manchester, Adams, Fraaklin and Sinclair. fus minutes of last meeting were read s.ii ,o iiirrua-L Three cases were ttua dibcussed and help given. The luvui d balance-sheet was road and a3 pted. The secretary was instructed to wr.a . asking the Borough Couucil fo-ih3U-;e 01 one of their rooui3 to boltl ilunr tnoufchly meeting m. The S'Ci.'iu'y was also instructed to write, thinking the Library Committee for Shnr kindness in giving them the use of their hall m the past. The i'ollo wiug oi.icfi'o were then elected for the year. — Mis Studholme, President; Mrs Fm iklin, Treasurer; Sirs SinviLur, SecittTry. The secretary w-as inst jctc.l to write, askiag for the yeai-ly do-.a.i^ns. Hearty votes of thanks Wi a passed to the President, Treasurer ! a,iJ y'eeretary, for their services during tho year. Masdames Gibson" and Manchester were appointed visitors for tho month. After passing accounts, 4he uieetiug closed with a hearty vote of thanks to the president.
REPORT AND BALANCE BHBHT. Tho society - during the year has Teceived subscriptions and donations amounting to .£l9 395, and during the v.m pa,id away the following amounts : —Rents, .£8 15s; goods and food, £16 18 3 ; wood and" coal, £17 3s 6J, thereby helping 20 parsons. The society has «iaung the year been kindly relieved by the Charitable Aid Board, paying tho rents for the society, which wili, in tta future, help the society a great chid. la March of this year, the society handed over the sum of JS3O 3s 5a to the Charitable Aid Board as voluntary contributions received by the society, to enable the society to take advaotage of tho Government subsidy, so as to help the society in. carrying out three missions of charity. -The society wish to thank the members of the Charitable Aid Board for their kiudneas in assisting at all times. They would, therefore, ask all ladies who have not yet joined the society to give in their names and become members, to enable them to help the poor of all denominations. The many cau help the few, and the small contribution of one shilling per month will be thankfully' received. ' To those who aub&oribe annually we thank them for tLbU* past donations, and hope they will continue to help the society in its good work of oharity.
