After a general salute had been given, the Inspeetor-Oeneral rode through the lines and his inspection was very thorough, He pointed inn limits here, and there, hut his remarks «ere more often than not complimentary, and indicated that he was pleas- ■ d with the appearance and great steadiness of the men. 'Hie discipline was wonderfully good. The (.'eneral wished in see the men at work, and in a few words he mapped out his little scheme to replace the complete manoeuvres of Colonel Smyth which had been abandoned through the snaking of the hills. The (leneral was greately pleased with the smartness of the mounted troops, and was impressed with their physique and the fine quality of their mounts. The inspection over, the whole division was formed up for the march past, which was a splendid brush to the operations. Those present w ere .greatly impressed with the magnificent spectacle of ihret thousand troops inarching past in lines extending over half a mile.
