HOKITIKA HARBOUR BOARD

The ordinary meeting of the Harbour Board was held last evening at , 7 o’clock. Present; Messrs H. L. Michel (Chairman), B. Wild, ,1. .1. -Mclntosh, T. W. Duff and W. .1. Jeffries. After the confirmation of the previous minutes the outward correspondence was approved, INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. The .following inward correspondence was dealt with :

From Mrs Savage, thanking the Beard foe sympathy in connection with her recent bereavement.—Received. From Palea Chamber, of Commerce, asking the Board to eo-oporato in making representations to the Agricultural Department to discontinue crediting the main harbours of the Dominion with exports of butter and cheese, and to ask that the same ho credited to the ports from which the exports were fust shipped.—Received and resolved to eo-nperato as requested. From Mark Sprot and Co. advising that the Board was protected by way of aeeide(W*»*4suraueo in .connection with the, handling of -stone until the, lOlh September next.—Received. I'Tom Town Clerk, forwarding statement of expenditure in connection with the. entertainment of the Prime Minister and asking for payment of Heard’s quota, £(i.—Received and amount passed for payment. From Harbourmaster, asking for tilt ec -weeks’ leave of absence from -4th May.—Received and request granted. A report from H. F. Toogood, C.E., in regard to the contract for-ihe supply of stone, was read and received. The Harbourmaster reported as follows:—There is a good wide channel at the entrance to the river, carry at high tide (to-day 10th), lift of water. During HlO last twelve days the river le. s been in fresh to moderate Goods, hut a considerable heavy sea has been running all the time. Since last meeting; on .March "20th the water on the h.u- had been Bft on three days, Bft to hit on three days,lift to 10ft on five days, 10ft to lift on eight days, lift t 1 12ft on three days, Rift, to l ift on six days. From Ist April to date Mr Coyle has delivered .12] tons of stone of good quality.—Received and adopted. From Butler Bros., forwarding cheque for £looo.—Received. Accounts amounting to £1320 Os (id were passed for payment.

Tim customary resolution in regard to the ‘Board’s bank .overdraft was passed and the Board rose at 7.15 p.m.
