HOKITIKA SEA ENCROACHMENTS
THE MAYOR'S THANKS. [per press association.---copyright.] AUCKLAND, April 17. The following telegram in reference to the tidal encroachments at Hokitika has been received by the Prime -Minisfu from the .Mayor of Hokitika (Air. C. A. Perry ): "On lichalf of the citizens and comici. of Hokitika, 1 wish to thank the Government through you, for your sympathy and the very prompt A- welcome assistance given, which we believe wit prevent the disaster assuming greatr. proportions.”
