“THE LAW OF HONOUR."

CABLE NEWS.

QUARREL- BETWEEN FRENCH. AIRMEN. DECISION OF THE SECONDS. [PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.] ~ PARIS, Feb. 17. The seconds have'decided that as M. Vedrincs refused satisfaction to M. Reuse, tlie Law of Honour prevents c\en the discussion of an affair between M. Vedrines and At. Quinton. [On tlie L5tU inst. a cable message from Paris reported that AI. Vedrincs, the aviator, Jiad returned and challengI cd M. Quinton to a duel with service revolvers at ten paces. At. Vedrincs declared that one of them must lie wiped out. Meanwhile he has announced himself as a candidate for Parliament, It was hinted early last month that arrangements to facilitate AI. A edrine’s aerial flight to Australia would lie endangered unless he gave satisfaction in connection with a challenge by Ai. Roux. AI. Vedrincs decided to continue his journey under his employers’ auspieies in defiance of the Aerial League. A previous message stated; “As the outcome of the refusal of M. Vndnnes, the French airman, who is flying to the colonies, to fight a duel with AI. Roux, on the ground that the latter had disgraced France, AI. Quinton, President of the French Aerial League, telegraphed to M. Vedrines: ‘Fight duel, or return.’ M. Vedrines replied: ‘I will fight you when 1 return.’ ” But the reception he received at Cairo seems to have caused M. Vedrines to change his mind. On the ‘2nd it was reported:—“ AI. Derrance, the French diplomatic agent, boycotted At Vedrines, the famous aviator, who proposed to fly to Australia, for refusing to return to Fanee and light a duel with AI. Roux. AI. Derrance secured a promise from Aref Pasha, the Grandmaster of Ceremonies, that he would exclude Af. Vedrines from the Khedive’s audiences. Tlie Khedive, however received AI. Vedrines, whereupon Ai. Derrance protested, and was informed that Aref Pasha had been replaced. AI. Denanee considers the satisfaction inadequate, as Aref Pasha becomes Chief of (lie Khedive's Turkish Cabinet.”]
