SOME HURRIED EXITS. [FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT. I WELLINGTON, Feb. 18. The Chinese premises in Taranaki and Haining Streets were raided to night and three Chinese and three Europeans were arrested on charges of conducting, or taking part, in pakapoo lotteries. One of the Chinese is said to be collector for the pakapoo banker and his capture is regarded as the most important of the lot. In Haining Street there was considerable excitement, the police having got through the gamblers’ pickets by strategy and when it was observed tliathe house was taken by storm, there were many exits from the adjacent premises and some remarkable fence climbing exploits are recorded.
