The Football Association has abolished the wage limit and resolved to allow bonuses. LONDON, April 24.—1n the Association Cup final, Newcastle United with a goal drew with Barnsley, a goal. There wore 70,000 spectators. The game will be replayed at Liverpool in the 28tb.
The meetings of the three footbal selections was held last night.
THE RIVALS
The players of Mr B. Dowell’s selection met in Wade’s shop, Mr F. McGregor being voted to the chair . It was decided that a club be formed to be named “The Rivals,” the colours to be maroon, with white yoke. Mr B, Dowell was elected captain, and Mr M. Houston Vice-Captain . The following officers were appointed: —President, Mr F. McGregor; VicePresidents, Messrs D. J. Evans, E. H. Robinson, H. Bock (junr), J. Mandl, W. H. Robinson, IL R. Barrett, A. ParkhiJlj J, J, Jones, J. J, Clarke, W. Keller, E. O’Connor, Rev, Father Ainsworth, and Mesdamea Briggs and Woolhouse; General Committee: Messrs Warren, W. Fraser, R, Ross, E. Toohoy, and R, Lynn; Selection Committee.: Captain, Vice-Captain, and Mr F. McGregor; Secretary and Treasurer, S. Briggs; Assistant-Secretary: Mr G. Warren; Auditors, Messrs H. Barrett and A. Folley; Delegates to Executive, Messrs F. McGregor and M. Hquston :
Tlio President signified ids intention of presenting a gold medal to the Club for competition. It was loft to the officers of the Club to allocate same.
THE KIWI CLUB.
A meeting of H. Lynch’s selection was held in the Aquatic Club Rooms at 7 o’clock last evening, Mr A. Benjamin being ip the chair, The meraberp present resolved themselves into a club to bo named “The Kiwi Football Club,” the colours to be royal blue jersey, with white collar, white pants, and black stockings. The following officers were elected President, Mr J. J. Mclntosh; VicePresidents ; Messrs G. Dee, W. Winchester, J. J. Breeze, H. M. Lynch, A. W. Yarrall, J. E. Wade J. Stevens, S. J. Preston, J. McSherry, H. Burger, H. M. Coulson, J. Cameron, E. H. Robinson, J. Mandl, G. H. M. McClure, E. B. Mahin, T, Crowe, and G. J. Roberts ; Captain, L. L. Hills; ViceCaptain, W. Fowler; Secretary and Treasurer, W. Fowler; General Committee, F. Stapleton, D, Dowell, J. Breeze, C. Ward, A. Wild, C. Fish, and C. English.; Seelction Committee: H. Lynch, L. L. Hills, G. McMillan; Delegates to Sub-Division, G. H. E. Hills and W- Fowler; Auditor, J. E. Wade.
Members subscriptions were fixed at \ ss ; to be paid one month from date. It was resolved that the Selection Committee be instructed to only select financial members in choosing teams for the fixtures. It was suggested that the Executive of the Subdivision consist of a President, three Vice-Presidents ,and one delegate from each Club. It was resolved that no player be allowed to take part in any of the Club's fixtures unless he wore the stipulated colours. Mr J. Stevens has donated a gold medal to be presented to the forward showing the most consistent play during the season. Mr A. W. Tan-all donated a. footabll to the Club It was decided that one night be set apart in each week for gymnasium work, and one night for outside training. ' It was resolved that members meet on Thursday next at the Moating Shed for the purpose of indulging in training exercises.
HOKITIKA EXCELSIOR EOOTBALL CLUB. Tho most enthusiastic football meeting hold in Hokitika for some considerable time took place last evening, when Mr Andrew Wilson’s selection met at Mr MeCaHum’s rooms to form a now chib in this town. It is very evident that the game will he revived considerably from the keen interest displayed by all those present. Air Bray was voted to the chair. Before proceeding with the business of the evening he apologised for the unavoidable absence of .Messrs H- L. Michel and G. 11. Eisfelder. Ihfirst business to receive consideration was that of selecting a suitable name for the newly formed club and after a sh'ort discussion it was unanimously
decided that the Club be called the “Hokitika Excelsior Football Club” and their colours, bo red and black as worn by the old Hokitika Club, now defunct. The election of officers result ed as follows President, H. L. Michel Esq.; Vice Presidents, Messrs W. Bray Rev. Jamieson, J. C. Malfroy, senr., G. H. Eisfelder, F. P. H. Sellers, senr., A. Stapleton, H. Jones and T. Palmer; Captain, Andrew Wilson; Vice-Cap-tain, Win. Wallace; General Committee, Messrs W. Wilson, R. P. Dykes, C. Walker, A. Heinz and C. Jacobs; Selection Committee, Captain, VlieeCaptain and A. Cowie; Secretary and Treasurer, W. F. St. George; delegate to W.C.R.U., Geo. Hills, Esq.; Auditors, Messrs Dykes and Jacobs. Messrs Wilson and W. Wallace then proposed 50 new members', bringing ‘the membership up to the grand total of 74, which was received with applause. The Club, after discussing several important matters in relation to its future prosperity, ended its meeting with the usual votes of thanks, the members leaving the hall full of determination to give a good account of themselves in Cup fixtures.
