MELBOURNE, March 18—The firsi aerial flight in Australia was accomplished by Houdini, a music hall performer. He used a Vorsin bi-plane, weighing 1400 pounds, with a 0? horse power petrol engine. The trial took place near the "Diggers Rest” hotel. He made three ascent-. In the first he covered a mile in a little over one minute at a height of 40ft. In the second he went up 100 ft. and remained in the air three minutes. In the third flight he covered three miles in a little over four minutes. The machine descended gracefully and gently to the earth.
