STEAMSHIP PROTECTION ASSOCIATION.

LONDON, Sept. 4.— Regarding the Liverpool and London Steamship Protection Associations' refusing the renewals to Australian and New Zealand Steamship Coy's, the secretary of the Steamship Owners' Association states Australian tonnage was excluded from tho benefits of the Association, which approximately amounted to 390,000 tons, so that the . liability transferred to Australian and New Zealand stfip owners was 3,507,000 pounds. This risk of such magnitude was regarded with the gravest concern % all interested. j The tonnage owned in Australia and New Zealand was too limited to form similar clubs here. The decision was placed before the members of the Association, which showed the extremely serious position. The whole matter will have to become the subject of the most careful consideration.
