POLICY.
OUTVOTED AT THE CONFERENCE

OTTAWA, Sept. 2.— On the arrival here of the New Zealand Premier, Sir Joseph Ward, he met Sir John Bryce, the British Ambassador at Washington, with whom he held a conference in regard to the Webster claim against the Government of New Zealand for half a million pounds in connection ith some land transactions in the North Island. Nothing is known of the result of their deliberations.
OTTAWA, Sept. 2.— Sir Joseph Ward and party have arrived here. Tn the course of a press interview, Sir Joseph Ward said that New Zealand stood for an undivided Imperial Navy, but she had, on this question, been outvoted at the Defence Conference He added that New Zealand was a strong advocate of an All Red steamship service, and an All Red cable hue, both belonging to the Governments.
