Some idea of the size of the structure may be gathered from the fact that it extends back from Revell street, a 1 distance of 146 feet, while it is 36 feet in breadth and 15ft high. Four of Wade's patent skylights have been installed on each side of tlio building. The front of the warehouse, I in whic?h the business office is constructed, will hold the firm's general drapery goods, while the middle portion consists of the millinery department, of which Miss Green is in charge. At v the rear of this are massive liat show cases, extending almost right across the whVle length of the building. These, as in the case of the millinery showroom, give the firm an opportunity of showing how extensive their importations are. The back part of £he building is to hold house furnishings an<^:.. other surh goods. Running right through the building on the sides and in the middle are massive and crnament- , al counters an dshow tables designed by Mr Goodfellow and manufactured by Messrs R. and W. Ross, the wellknown cabinetmakers of this town. The tops are of kauri. It may be mentioned that there are no less than 4000 feet of shelving ,with ; 800 recesses. Every (convenience has been installed, the skylight providing the necessary light during the day, while no less than 42 gas jets have been fitted np. No less than 1 6tradesmen have been engaged in the building and decorating operations. The contract was secured by Mr W. Goodfellow and his excellent workmanship is everywhere apparent. The painting and decorating was entrusted to Messrs Holmes and Co., and needless to say has been carried out in an artistic manner. The ornamental furnishings were turned out by Messrs R. and W. Ross, whose faithful work is so well-known that it
needs no comment. Mr William Shannon, plumber, installed the-gas fittings which arc of an elaborate nature.. The opening of the warehouse on Saturday will be the- signal for the commencement of a special show of goods. Patrons of the firm will' be enabled to inspect the wide range to advantage ss the special fittings which have boeu installed for the purpose such as the show cases, tables and < counters, are of an elaborate nature. A special millinery display will be made_ on Saturday night when a huge shipment of che latest goods will be exhibited.
