As was stated in yesterday's issue of the "Times" the Mayor and the County Chairman telegraphed asking the Minister for Railways to explain the position to his coleague of the Roads Department and endeavour to adjust the matter. In reply the following wire was received yesterday afternoon by the Mayor: — His Worship the Mayor, Hokitika. Your telegram of the 21st inst x-eceiv-ed I have seen Hon. Minister for Roads but he declines to give £200 year subsidy for the bridge. (Signed). J. A. Millar.
