MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

DANNEVIRKE, June 3.— R. G. Paterson, arrested a short time ago on a charge of fraudlently, converting to his own use several sums of money belonging to the firm of Paterson and Coy., sawmillers, proceeds of sales of timber, was brought before Mr McCarthy, S.M., yesterday. After a lengthy hearing extending until this afternoon the Magistrate held that while the partnership accounts showed that Paterson had not dealt so openly with Pawson as Pawson had with Paterson there was no ground for a criminal .charge and the case was dismissed. Several other similar charges pending were withdrawn and the prosecutor, Pawson, apologised for the action.
