People Resort to Cannibalism

Terrible reports are to band regarding the effects of tbe famine in the districts where it prevails. These show tbat, amongst other revolting practices, the famishing people are resorting to cannibalism.
The famine-pfcrioken are eating human flesh in many localities. Some rice has been distributed tp the townspeople, but those in tbe country Me left to starv«.
Bands of Chinese robbers- in Upper Tonkiog have been driven to kill several of their captive* when foodies?.
Many women and obildren who have "been liberated, narrate horrible scenes of butobery among the cannibals*
