The Cabinet hss decided to call tenders, which close on May 3 1st for a new European mail contract It is to be purely a postal carriage service, bub will take produce or other matters when thought ad-

tiaable.

The terminable ports will bs Naples or BrindUi, and Adelaide. The service is to be a fortnightly ono, the speed of the vessel engaged to be not less than fifteen knots per hour. Tbe contract is to be optional for seven or ten years. The white labour stipulation is unaltered, aud it is also stipulated that the Governmeut may at any time during the contract purchase or charter any mail steamer.
