« The Premier Pleased* The following telegrams, received yestorday from tbe Right Hon R. J. Seddon, disclose the pleasure felt by the Premier at the successful gathering in the Princess Theatre on Monday night ;— "To J. MandJ, Esq., flokifcika.— The demonstration lasb nigbfc and tbe kind words B&id were to Mis Seddon and myself very cheerful reading this morning. I shall never be able to repay you and the people of Hokitika and Westland for so many kindnesses to me. I can only say that I will do my best to merit a continuance of the unbounded confidence existing. Your expressed convictions will, in my opinion, be confirmed by a large majority of the electors of the colony tomorrow. My one de3ire is ever to prove worthy. — R. J. Seddon, Christchurchj Dec 5." "To T. J. M'Guigan, Esq., County Chairman of Westland.— Mrs Seddon and myself tender you our sincere thanks for the able part you took last night at the demonntration. Aa an ex-Chairman and member of the Westland Connty Council | myself, it adds another link binding me to a pleasurable paat.— R. J. Sftddon. LytteltoD, Dec 5." ••To the Socretaries of the Demonstration Committee— The speeches delivered last night, comin?, as they do, from representative men, and the resolution arrived at, are much appreciated by Mrs Seddon and myself, and will have a marked effect throughout the colony, as the people judge men by the opinion of those amongst whom their lives have been spent.— R.
