The Knmara Water Race : — Tbe total ■ties of water from the Kumara Race for the year amounted to £2,250 12s 2 1 . and the expenditure for maintenance and repairs during the same period was £1 706 10-, showing a credit balance of £544 2s 2d on the year's transactions.
The average number of miners tup: plied with water for sluicing from the race was 46-08, and the approximate quantity of gold obtained by them was 4*6340z, having a value of £17,565 12s. The ules of water are £69 Is2d greater thjin during the preceding year, and tbe approximate yield of gold i5.6270z more having a value of £2,445 63.
The expenditure on maintenance and repairs is £371 6s lOd less tban duringthe preceding year, and all the race 3 and pipe lines have been kept in an efficient '- state of .repair. '" The most of the ground sluiced away daring the year was poor, and several etrims were abandoned on that account; Bat other ground formerly abandoned ' his again been taken up, with fair prospects of payable returns.— (N.
