GENERAL ELECTIONS PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATES.
PREELECTION ADDRESSES.
I ' WBf^INGWON, Oct 29. The political campaign has, begun, but it is top early yet to speculata as to any- . body's chances, particularly as it w nob wholly certain who and how many will be out for the city seats. The Opposition •" ticket* having been settled upon, everybody is asking who will take up the ; gauntlet for the Government side. The mixed opinions of the Liberal and Labor -*orgauisations have complicated matters,
but it is obvious that some decision must be come to soon. A merry fight is antici-
pated for the Newtown seat, which is being worked for by the Government and two Independent candidates, aud one Oppositionist. The retiring members for the Hutt and Otaki seats, Messrs Wilford and Field, are not likely to have serious opposition.
Mr P: J. O'Regan, candidate for the Wellington City addressed the electors this evening and was awarded a yobs of thanks and confidence. '
He pave qualified support to the Government and said the Ministry should be reconstructed. He declared that he supperted principles not men. He would oppose a standing array as he would small pox but promised whole hearted support to Lgbour Legislation and every effort to improve land settlement.
