HOSPITAL CONCERT.
The entertainment given to the patlenta at the Hospital last evening, under tb« auspices of the Hokitika Town v Band, mi a pronounced success, the inuiatesof the Institution appreciating the treat very much. There was a good musierofthe Band, under Bandmaster Perry, and a number of town and country people were present. The concert v« given in the large room of the Old Men's Home which was suitably prepared for theocctston. Mr J Toomey, Chairman . of the House Committee presided, in the absence, : afi Greymoutb, of the President, Mr Beare. Mr Stevenson, Miss Shillington (Matron) and the staff dispensed, refreshments, and left nothing undone for the enjoyment of the inmates and visitors. The. following programme, every item of which was thoroughly, enjoyed was given :— 'Maid of Athens ', Band; flute solo *Auld Robin Gray,' Mr Gibbons; Duet ( Excelsior.' Messrs Clarke and Perry; Solo •Mandshy* Mr Seed; cornet solo, Mr Quarter man; Duet ' I know a bank ', Mr and Miss Perry; Solo * Killarney' Miss Staple ton; Solo ' Queen of the Earth ', Mr Perry ; Instrumental trio, Messrs Heppel, Hanson and Gibbons ; Ballet dance, Missel Malfroy, Breeze and Erans. This item was the gam of tbe evening and. was loudly encored. Solo ' Auld Bohin ' Gray ', Band ; Instrumental solo, Mr ! Greaney ; Quartette, Misses Mae&rlane A Stapleton, Messrs Perry and Rilfe ; Solo 1 The waters blue' Mr Balfe; Ipstramen* tal trio, Messrs Gibbons, Heppel aud Hansen; Cornet solo 'Happy Moments *, Mr Quarterman; Solo ' Rocked in the cradle of the deep ' Mr Greanej. Mra Macaudrew,' and Messrs D Clarke and G Heppel were the accompanists, and con. tributed, in no small measure to the success of tbe entertainment. Both Messrs Toomey and Thompson, on behalf of the Trustees, returned thanks to the perfor* mers and general public for the treat afforded to the patients, Mr Clifton, representing the country members of the Institution, also expressed gratification at the attention to tbe patients, and also to the public for the attendance to brighten the lot of those who are inmates of tbe hospital. A selection by the band concluded a most successful evening's entertainment.
