For United Kingdom, Continent of Europe and America, West Indies via San Francisco, Sandwich Islands, &c, close at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, 22nd inst. This wail is due in London on 27th January, 1897.
The direct English mail (to connect with aie s.s. ■Rimutaka, leaving Wellington on 24th) close on Friday, 18th inst at 7 a.m. i it is due in London on the Bth of January. ' For Chatham Islands, per s.s. Kahu, close at Lyttelfcon on Friday, Ist January, 1897.
HOLIDAYS— Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. On Christmas Day and New Year's Day the Post Office will observe close holidays, but on the 36«* ins); (S^ng iDp.y) 4jH c -jp^ office will be open in all branches from 9 a.m. to 10 a.ra, AU wails usually despatched on Fridays, the 25th inst and Ist prox., will close on the Thursdays at 7 p.m. ; on the 26th inst all mails will close at 10 a.m.
Telegraph Branch— On Christmas Day Boxing Day and New Year's Day, the Telegraph Office will observe the usual h»Mday hours, viz., from 9 to 10 a.m. and 7 to 8 p.m.
