Adelaide, July 3xThe revenue for the year, exclusive of £98,000 raised on treasury bills, totalled ' £2, 521.000 an increase of £87,700 on the previous year. The expenditure was £2,509,000, a decrease of £22,700. After paying £60,000 towards the redemption of bonded debt, the year closed with a surplus of £12,000. Brisbane, July 31. At a meeting of the Queensland National Bank the Chairman stated the directors felt it impossible to continue to pay 4£ per cent on deferred deposits and at the same time continue successfully to compete with other banks which were obtaining money at considerably lower rates, and it was intended to ask depositors to consent to a reduction of rates. It also indicated there was a ju-obability of further reduction in the lending rates of the Banks. ' Melbourne, July 31. Cable advice has been received of the safe arrival at Port Said of Mr S. H - Gollan's team of thoroughbreds, viz Stornchasei', Mosquetairie, Cullodeii, aridErl King, which are en wide for London. The Supr.eme Court has sanctioned the Commercial Bank scheme with slight amendments. The Premier has promised to suspend for 6 months his decision to refuse a subsidy to any hospital compelling nurses to work more than 48 hours weekly.
