QUEENSLAND BUDGET.
[Per United Press Association] Brisbane, July 30. In the budget the estimated revenue for the last twelve months was £3,469,880, while the actual receipts were £3,641,583. Taxation yielded £1,566,000, being an increase, of. £92.,0a0. over while Railways was £75.000 in excess of > estimate. The expenditure was estimated at £3,431,503, while the actual amount expended, was £3,567,947. The surplus would be handed over to the trusteesjappowted last yea,r for the purpose %£ t^ extinction of tljie public debt. Government intend shortly to introduce a Bill to make considerable additions to the free list. Th,e§e w^ fee almost confined k> articles which produce little revenue, and remission is based upon principle of. wiping away obstacles as fir as the colony can. afford that which stands in the way of the development of trade. The situation will mean a loss of £50,000 annually.
