Wellington, Juty 29. William Lain bourne has been sentenced to 3 months imprisonment by the Magistrate at Masterton for imposing on the Benevolent Society there. The accused alleged he was in desp ( era.te circumstances and had obtained relief while he had.£BsO on deposit in" the bank at Marton. B. Sampson, tobacconist, was fined £5 and costs on a charge of selling printed matter of jan indecent nature. On a second information a nominal penalty was inflicted.
