"Wellington, June 4. At the Supreme Court, J. Pearson, 12 years of age, for theft at Palmerston North, was admitted to probation for 6 months. A young man named B. Frederick Maryott, on a charge of theft of jewtjllery from the Masonic Hotel, was remanded for sentence. Thos. Johnston was convicted of forging an endorsement to a cheque for £2 Hia Honor remarked the prisoner * had been continually in gaol since 1884- and had evidently made up his mind to live by swindling. Charles Robinson was found guilty ot receiving valuables stolen from the Museum, knowing them to he stolen, and was sentenced to 2 years hard labor. George Sandbrook and Patrick Stanton, charged with assault and robbery atMasterton, were acquitted. Dunedin, June 4.

At the Supreme Court, in the cane of the young man Jeremiah O'Brien, charged with rape, the jury returned a verdict of ' not guilty ' on the ground of consent.
