PROSPECTING.

(7o the Editor.) Bm,— l am extremely gled to hear that the public have determined to "grant assistance towards prospecting in the district, more especially to try and picfc up the lead at Back Creek. Now is the tme for the business people of dull Hokitika to unite together as one m«n to further such a worthy undertaking. I hope it iB trie that the leading tradespeople are taking a deep lnt-rest in the matter and are subscribing wbat they can well affo-d. Jf the Rack Creek couutry was thoroughly prospected there is not the slightest doubt amongst old miners but that a large and payable goldffeld would result. A good many miners over here are anxious to know how the merchan's and Revell etreet shopkeepers are showing their appreciation. As an impetus t /their poorer brethren, perbapß, someone might enlighten them. I am, &c>, Mimsb. '„ WooJetock, April 27, 1891.
