The inconvenience suffered by the miners in the Stafford and Goldsborough district through the recent police changes was prominently brought by the County Chairman before the notice of the Minister of Justice yesterday. Mr M'Whirter telegraphed :—: — Great inconvenience to residents of Stafford and Goldsborough caused by no person being authorised to attend Warden's Office business lately performed by Sergt Hannon. Matter urgent as rights lapsing and Berions complications likely to arise. "^lt will be remembered that in a paragraph which appeared a few days ago we mentioned tbat Mr M'Whirter, County Chairman, had sent several telegrams to the Government' concerning the Back Creek goldfleld and othe r matters, but had received no reply. Now that there is a change of Ministry, Mr M'Whirter is once more in the breach. Yesterday ha sent the following telegram to the Miniiter of Mines : — " Anxiously waiting reply to telegrams 10th December, and 12th insfc., re money for tracks in Back Creek rush. Several fresh shafts on payable gold, field to-day looks vesy promising indeed." With Mi* Seddon as Minister of Mines, and with the County Chairman constantly urging the importance of this field on the Government, measures should be taken for the construction of the tracks &c, bo urgently required to aid in its development.
