The Sydney Morning Herald, in the course of a leading article says the cessation of the San Francisco mail service will no doubt evoke a feeling of regret in not a few of the Australian colonies, not so much on account of its postal advantages, as for the sake of the relations which it. helped to establish between the Great Republic and these advancing communities. Failing a line from San Franciaco, one from Vancouver is sure to be established shortly, ami if tho United States do not wish to see their influence eclipsed, they must display in the future a generosity which will present a striking contrast with the parsimony of the past.
