July 3. An altercation took place in Queen street to-day, between Mr Dargaville and Mr bwansou, both of whorr are standing for City West, when Mr Swanson exclaiming " do you mean to call me a liar" struck Mr Dargaville with his stick oaus. iug a slight abrasion ot the skin on his face from which tie blood appeared. Mr Dargavilie immediately got into a cab aud drove to the Clnb.

At the Supreme Court session, Hipa, a Maori got three years for sacrilege ; Eichard Bright, 3 years for perjury; Henry Denvey, four charges of forgery, 14 years. Later.
Swanson hit Dargaville on the head with hjs crutch, drawing first blood. Mr Dargaville having regard to gwangon being crippled, walked away and does not intend to proceed against Swanson for assault, but to let the matter drop.
