THE MISSING SAILORS.

Wellington, December 12.

In replying to the Chamber of Commerce, Cbristchurcb, Government are of opinion that if the naissiDg crevr of tbe Sarah W. Hunt reached Campbell or Auckland Island, they would suffer no privation . If th< y did not reach, either of these islands it would be useless to search for them. It is thought that if the men are on the island the captain of the Sarah W. Hunt should re-man his vessel and go himself in search of the missing seamen. Mr RollestoQ is, however, awaiting a full report from Christchurcb, and it is probable that on the return of the schooner Eokeno from Auckland islands, she may be ordered to return and make a strict search. If, as alleged, the men were sealing it was quite illegal, as the present time is a close season.
