DISTRICT GRAND LODGE OF WESTLAND, E.C. i^TOTICE is hereby given that the •^ EXAMINAIION for a MASONIC SCHOLARSHIP, to be presented by the above Lodge, will take place at the STATE SCHOOL, HOKITIKA, at 11 o'clock on WEDNESDAY, 17th inst. and following day. By order of the R.W.D.G.M. W. D. BANKS, G.G. Sec. Hokitika, January 11, 1883. PROSPECTUS OP THE f^i OLDEN HILL GOLD-MINING VT AND WATER RACE COMPANY, LIMITED, ROSS, Totara District, County of Westland, Comprising a Leasehold of 60 acres, and a most Valuable Water -race, about three and a-half miles of which are already constructed. Capital £33,000* in thirty-three thousand i Shares of £l each, 20,000 of which are now offered to the public at par, 3000 fully paid up will be given to the p r esent proprietors for their interest in the lease ot 60 acres, and £1000 cash for the whole right, title and interest in the water-race, which has been purchased by them for tbe purpose of working the leaso, and the remaining 10,000 to be held in reserve for the benefit of the Company, PIIOVISIONAL DIRECTOBS: Messrs E. F. Rich L. Skene B. Dyson James Holmes R. W. Wade Thomas Paterson John Bevan F. Eisfelder J. T. Petrie. Bankers; Bank of New Zealand. Manager ; W. A. Spence. Offices: Wharf street, Hokitika. The Company's Property consists of 60 acres of auriferous sluicing ground at Ross (almost adjoiningthe celebrated MontD'Or Company's claim), which contains an immense deposit of highly payable auriferous drift gravel, varying from 100 feet to 400 feet in depth, and is a continuation of the same gold-bearing country, the richness of which is well known, and has been proved for several years past, by the successful working of the Mount Greenland and Mont DOr claims, which have both yielded handsome dividends to their respective sh&rtholders The rich alluvial Ross Flat lies at the immediate base of this terrace. The special advantages for working the Company's large area on a comprehensive and profitable scale, arise from the fact that the promoters bave purchased for cash a valuable water-race, supplied from Harvey's Creek and its tributaries, at a sufficient altitude, which is already constructed for a distance of about three and a half miles, carrying fully four Government heads of water, and possessing in its course, a magnificent site for a dam, which with further rights applied for, should give a supply amounting to at least eight Government heads of water, which would be equal to any demand for the Company's mining operations As a proof of the valuable nature of the ground, it may be mentioned that the Mont DOr Company's claim, almost adjoining, returns an average of fully 100 ounces of gold per month, and that with a very limited water supply. It must also be borne in mind that the expenses incidental to goldmining in sluicing claims, in comparison to working from deep shafts in wet ground, are very trifling. The Directors, in submitting this extenBive Goldmining and Water-race property to the Public, do so with the fullest confidence that it will prove a payable investment. The estimated cost of bringing the water on the ground is approximately as follows : Iron-piping to bring water over Donnelly's creek ... ... 3000 Completing race ... ... ... 3000 Tail-race 500 Total £6500 Immediately upon the requisite number of shares being applied for, the Company will be registered under the Mining Com* pany'a Act, 1882. A cash deposit of sixpence per share must be made on application, and one shilling on allotment, calls not to exceed sixpence per month. Applications must be forwarded to tbe Manager at the Company's Office, Wharf street, Hokitika, or to any of the Company's Brokers, where Prospectuses and Forms can be obtained. "TTISITING CARDS (Ladies' or Gentio V men's), Lithographed et Tkb West Coast Titoa Office.
