The object of the promoters is to float a Company to work the ground comprised in a Special Claim of 61 acres, situated Jon the Alpine Range; Lyell, north arid east of the ground of the United Alpine ' Quartz Mining Company (Limited), which it adjoins; bounded on the south by the ground of the Captain Cook Company, formerly known as the Little Wonder ; on the north by the Eight-Mile, formerly known as the Break o' Day Company, and also by the prospecting claim known as Maloney's. The Special Claim contains the ti round formerly known as the Lyell Creek, Oriental, Monte Christo, antj Central Leases. ■The extraordinary richness of the leaders which have been worked in the Little Wonder, Break o' Day, Maloney ? s, Monte Christo, Oriental, and Central is welj known, the yields ranging from 4 to 2i ounces to the ton. The reef is -in the ground of the United Alpine Company^ proven now to a depth of 450 feet, "is as indicative of permanency as any quartz lode in the Southern Hemisphere, being from 6 feet to 30 feet in width, and yielding an^ average of 25 dwts to the ton ; and it may be here noted that on the lowest level I the width of the reef is up to the average, wfiile the quality of the stone is superior, thus indicating that in richuess it improves as it goes down. The ground can be worked by a tunuel driven from Brown's Creek, at a depth of 600 feet below the present lowest level in tbe ground of tbe United Alpine Company. The tunnel wjjU' intersect' tbe line of rich leaders at 800' feet, and the line of the Alpine reef at 1600 feet. The country through which it is proposed to drive the • •tiibnel is comparatively soft, and the cost of driving will accordingly be moderate. ' $A machine site and 'water rights have been becured in Brown's Oreek, in H ' which there is abundance of water for motive power in all seasons. The supply of mining timber in the ' neighborhood is unlimited. •Ihe promoters would respectfully call Ibe attention'' of. the public to f the extent oPithe Special Claim,' the position which it occupies, being situated in the region of the 4 ' 'rich leaders before mentioned, and cont ining many of them, and adjoiniug ■ ibß ground of the now far-famed United Alpine Compsny;; to the permanent ap<I pcarance of tbe reef in the mine of the Company, to the depth to which it is proven, and also to the fa"t that'it ' improves in quality as it "goes down. They would also call attention to tbe advantages bfChaving an unlimited supply of water for driving machines, plenty of timber for mining purposes growing on the property, and to the fact that- calls of one halfpenny per share per month will be sufficient to pay tbe cost of driving the tunnel and the current expenses of the company for the time being. •In conclusion, the promoters having the greatest confidence in the success of the undertaking, will reserve to themselves 12^000 contributing 'shares, and will offer > to tbe public 36,000 shares at 4d per share. Twopence to be paid on application, and Twopence on allotment. The last payment of Twopence must be made before January Ist 1881. ' y." ' 'Forms of application can be had from the undersigned until the Ist January, . 1881, at which date ail applications must be:in, when the lists .will be closed. F. A. LEARMONTH, Broker.
