HOKITIKA HARBOR BOARD.
Tuesday, December 8. The Board met at half-past seven p.m. Present— The Son. J. A. Bonar (Chair^ man), the Collector of Customs, Messrs, Hudson, Malfrpy, and Duncan. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. COERESPONDENCE, The outward correspondence was read and approved. A letter was read and received from the Minister of Lands, statins that it would require a special Act to vest the-'pre-emptive right of reserve No. 145 in the Board. FINANCE COMMITTEE'S BEPOET. The following report was read and adopted ; — Your committee met on Tuesday, December 21st, 1880, and beg to report that, after considerable negotiation, they have now concluded arrangements by which the Government vote of £3000 will be paid at once to the credit of- the Board, and a further sum of £4000 will be advanced by the Sank of Nevr Zealand, against the debentures of the Board for £10,000. ' ' In order to give effect to this arrangement we beg to recommend that the following resolution be passed:— That the power already given to Messrs Foster and Russell to create and issue debentures on behalf of the Board for the sum of £6000, be extended so as to aHthorise tbe creating and issue of debentures for £10,000. The correspondence relating to this negotiation is attached to this report. be'mqval op snags. The following tenders for this work were received .— T. Daly £150 ; C. Holly £145 ; «J. Nightingale £11? 12s. The tender of Mr Nightingale wa^ accepted.. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £149 were passed for payment. . , VOTE OP THANKS. A cordial vote of thanks was unanimously tendered to the Chairman, for his unwearied exertions to release the Board from the financial difficulties in which they had been placed, and he was also congratulated upon the satigfactpry result of the negotiations which he had so skilfully
carried to a successful and 'lighly gratifying termination.
