Cape Toynx, November 22. The rebellion in Basutsland is still ra §"?g« # Since the last summary on $b,e Bth instant, the colonial forces acted mostly on the defensive. It is probable thaf the cplonists will be able to quell the outbreak, notwithstanding that the ranks of the rebels hare been swelled by the addition of the greater part of
the Timfaa and Timbas, which tribes have joinpd the revolts On the 13th Colonel Carrington engaged the Basutos in tae mountains/ The enemy numbered some 5000, our troops 1100. Our loss |f as six killed and the same number wounded. The enemy lost heavily, haying charged three times and each time baing repulsed. On tbe 14th Captain Landry engaged the Timbus, when five of his force were killed, including Commandant von Ling. On Monday week the rebels attacked Major Bell's force at Keribi, but were beaten off: with a loss of 17 killed. On the \3fa Captain Alyliffe attacked the Bpmbaros Kraal and killed 60 rebels. our loss was one killed and one wounded. By the Ist of December General Clarke will have a force of 11,000 coleuists under his command, as by that date the burghers recently called out will have reached the frontier. On f,^e 15th Captain Alyliffe moved to attack Bombares Kraal' again, but fpund it deserted. Burghers from all parts are leaving fqr the frontier.
