REEFTON MINING.

[Inangahua Herald, September 18.] Golden Fleece Extended. — The price ©f shares in this Company since my last quotation has advanced considerably. This is owing, to the fact of the southern stopes showing 1 a good width of reef, three feet being about one of the smallest faces, with a very pleasing show of gold. From outside information received, the manager has got a block of some 120 feet or thereabouts, so that there is a large area to be worked before there is any fear of an encroachment on their neighbor's ground.

Golden Treasure. — The kiln for roasting the quartz works is quite as well ns ever expected. The only fault is the small size ef the structure, but this can of course be remedied by building a larger one. Owing to inexperience there was some little error in the working of the kiln al the outset, by allowing the heat to become reduced, and in consequence the antimony settled into a cake. The Company has had an offer to burn their quartz conditionally thSt the party who undertake the roastiog; of the stone shall have the antimony tfaat is extracted therefrom. The stone raised from tho north block, and crushed lately, has given a much larger yield than pievious ones. The stone from this block it known to contain a somewant larger percentage of gold than the south stone, but taking the general average of gold raised since, the first crushing some twelve months since it will be seen that the property promises to become one of the most important on the field.

Lnergetic—The prospects at this mine have improved during tho past week, the sh ow of gold being larger. The works, as stated in previous reperts, ar,e proceeding satisfactorily. Nil Desperandum — The tributors have over Eeventy tons of quartz to grass. This parcel will be enlarged as the driving proceeds towards the winze. Probably there will be a small crushing in the course of a few weeks, but after the winze is connected thero will be a regular crushing. The reef in the extension above mentioned is holding good, and is looked upon as being of similar value to the reef that has been worked in the upper level. Wealth of Nations. — Matters are slightly improved at this time as the result of late prospecting. Iv the course of a short time a good block of quartz will be picked up, as a similar indications are now being met with that were always present before striking stone. There are some eighteen men employed at the mine and battery. Result. — It is almost certain that the shareholders when assembled will decide on the extension of the Golden Ciowa tunnel. The distance to be gone is about 150 feet to the line of reef, giving a depth, of country overhead from the most northern workings ©f over two hundred feet. The country is of an easy nature, and it is estimated that the driving ef the tunnel will not exceed 30s per foet. It being the wish of most of the local shareholders that no time shall be lost after the meeting of subscribers before commencing operations, it is quite possible that tenders will be called for the prosecution ©f a piece of driving, and work started early in the month of October.
