RECEPTION OF MR S. T. GEORGE,
M.H.R. Wellington, July 4.
Mr Seymour Thome George returned here yesterday, and was warmly welcomed in> the evening. He was entertained by a number of friends at a most recherche dinner in the Empire Hotel. J. S. M. Thompson, Esq. occupied the chair, and amongst those present were, the Hon. Mr Fisher, Mr Bnnny, M.H.R., Messrs Buckley, Crawford, Wright, Martin, and Shannon, J.P.s; Messrs Mace, Billings, J. S, Keed, Dr Diver, H. Fitzherbert, and E. T. Gillon. The health ot the new member for Hokitika wast proposed by the chairman, and most enthusiastically received ; altogether the proceedings were of the most enjoyable character. Mr George's election has given great and general pleasure here. The Hon. Colonel Whitmore and the Hon. Mr Ballance, were prevented by illness from attending the dinner.
