VESSELS IN PORT. Waipara, Lioness, Tauranga, Lizzie Guy, and Mullough. The Waipara will load up for Jackson Bay and Southern ports^ this morning, and as most of her freight is engaged, she will sail punctual to time advertised; The Kennedy sailed last evening fro in Greymouth, if or Westport and Nelson. : , Tihe little steamer Mullough arrived yesfrp.m Lyttelton via Charleston, after a rather long trip.. ,She is a small iron vessel of tons, owjaed by Captain Vernazani, and we understand it is the intention of her owner to run her between the West Coast ports. She brings a cargo of coals for this port. Tbe Tararua signalled her arrival in the roadstead last .evening about, half-past 6 o'clock. TJja Waipara tendered her on tho same tide, and th,e Tararua then proceeded on jier voyage to Melbourne direct. The Owakje has left Greymouth for Manukau, coal laden. The schooner Friendship having been purchased by Mr Murray, of Dunedin, is about to make a trip to tbe Fiji Islands. By the Lady B.arkly we learn of the total loss of the ketch Mermaid at Tata Islands. She brought up for shelter under the island on Saturday, but the gale coming on caußed her to drag her anchor. She went on the rocks, and very quickly went to pieces. The vessel, which was bringing a cargo of limestone to Nelson, was commanded by a very ojd identity, Captain Sjnith,,and there was a second hand on board. Both men were . saved, hWeVer, although with great difficulty, for they only managed to get ashore on the vessel's hatches. We understand she was owned ;by Mr Dodson of Riwaka.— Nelson Colonist May 1.7. The Newcastle Pilot says: — It will be recollected that the collision between the Warajjah, s.s., and the Southland steam tug, resulted in a law suit which has been dragging its slow length along for a weary time . The Tug Company obtained a verdict against the owners of the Waratak, but a question of interest remained. This has been decided in iavor of the Tug Company, and on the 25th ult. the solicitors to the company paid to its credit the. sum of £3481 12s 2d., being the amount due. The New Zealand Shipping Company Limited, has despatched the following vessels from London as follows:— March 6, Boldpn, for Otago; 14, Dunelm, Auckland; 21, Columbus, Canterbury; 27, Firth of Forth, Wellington. And will despatch— April 5, City of Dublin, for Otago; 10, Cerastes, Auckland; 10, Olive, Canterbury; 10, Kildouan at Li'pool, do Napier; 20, An Al Ship, Bluff Harbor; 30, Rokeby Hall, Otago; 30, Lebu, Auckland; 30, Paiala, (New Ship) Canterbury.
