The schooner Canterbury was wrecked! in Tory Channel, going from Wellington to Pelorus Sound in ballast. She went ashore while anchored for shelter: The crew save I all the gear. The vessel was insured in the Victorian office for £230, and was valued at £400. Tabateau of Christchurch is the owner,
