The following special cablegram was received by the Sydney Morning Herald : The Porte refused the firman to the British fleet to remain at Stamboul on tho ground that the Russians would occupy the city.
It is rumored that the term of alliance i between Turkey and Russia is that the latter assumes the protectorate. The sleamcr Metropolis has been wrecked off the coast of Carolina, and one hundred lives lost. Russia suggested a conference at Brussels or Lausanne.
