TUB FISHHOOK DISQUALIFICA-

TION.

At a meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club to-day, a resolution was passed approving the action of tlie stcVvjtrils of the North' Otago races in disqualifying Fishhook, and it was decided to write to the stewards asking why the rider of Fishhook woW aot also' disqualified. Sir GtHcroft Wilson gave" notice of a motion' for the next meeting, to the eifect that Fishhook arid his rider be disqualified from f:!ciHg uti iiiiy cbiirsb where the tV J. C. fiiles are in force. The meeting also confirmed the action of the Dunedin Jockey Club in reference to J. Colemau.

The Licensed Victuallers have passed a resolution in favor of starting an Insurance Company, in case the existing companies refuse t!o reduce present rates. A public meeting will be called and the public will be invited to take shares. It was agreed to dppeal to the Governihent to allow hotels to open during a portion of Sunday. The Association has £150 to its credit in the bank.
