THE IMMIGRANT SHIP CAROLINE.

.The Nelson Mail' says that the passage of the immigrant ship Caroline wasr a : most quiet and uneventful one. , There was no sickness at all of a serious nature 1 among the adults, although they were five deaths of infants, all under. twelve ; months/ old, principally from diarrhoea. Three yonng woman had to be landed, from the ship's side in chairs, two of theriibaving been ailing when put on board. Their names are: — Emily Gamble, in a far advanced stage of consumption; Honor Mangan, suffering from heart disease; and Laura Dubb, suffering from a broken rib caused by being thrown against one of the lockers by a lurch of the ship. The former was at once conveyed to the Nelson Hospital, and the two latter to the depot. The ship is in splendid order, everything being as, clean and .comfortable as could possibly be desired, and the passengers speak in high terms of Captain Turnbull, Dr Scott, and the officers — Messrs Batt, Cox, and Rickards, who left nothing undone to ensure the comfort and happiness of those committed to their care. The men are a remarkably fine looking Bet m of fellows, and should be able to give a good account of themselves either in mine or harvest field, while a11,, 0f both geies, appear to be a well behaved, respectable lot, 'and likely to prove a valuable addition to our population.
