She — the chairwoman — for one, was determined to set her face against such nonsense^ and trusted -her friends present, would form a combination to put a stop to SHch stupidity- .After a very animated and livdly discussion, in which several ladies took part, it was unanimously resolved :— * That the ladies present form themselvesjnto a society to be called the Marriage Reform : Association, -the object of .which will be to .counteract and oppose the useless, pomp] and senseless fineryj antf the. absurd extravagance which atpreseni disfigure the ceremony of, marriage.
